Document Inbox & Forwarding Email

What the document inbox does
The document inbox turns a file into a draft entry — without manual data entry. You give Frank a document, Frank reads it, and Frank proposes something to create. You stay in control: nothing is added to your account until you approve it.
Document inbox and forwarding require a Pro plan.
Two ways to get a document in
1. Upload
Open Settings → Document inbox and upload a file (or drag one in). Supported formats include PDF, images (PNG, JPG) and spreadsheets (CSV, XLSX).
2. Email it in
Every Pro account has a private forwarding address, shown at the top of Settings → Document inbox with a copy button. Forward — or have a provider send — a statement, receipt or policy schedule straight to that address and it lands in your inbox automatically. Useful for things like a monthly super statement or an insurance renewal that already arrives by email.
Keep your forwarding address private — anyone who has it can drop documents into your inbox.
What Frank does with it
Once a document arrives, Frank reads the text and works out what kind of document it is, then drafts a matching entry for you to review. For example, Frank might:
- read a super fund statement and propose adding the balance as an asset;
- read an insurance policy schedule and propose recording the policy, sum insured and premium;
- read a receipt and propose logging the expense against a category;
- read a bank or brokerage statement and propose transactions to import.
Each proposal shows you the figures Frank pulled out and the source document they came from, so you can check them against the original before deciding.
You approve, Frank files
Every proposal sits in the inbox as a draft. You can:
- Approve — Frank creates the entry exactly as shown.
- Edit then approve — adjust a figure, category or date first.
- Reject — discard the proposal; nothing is created.
Frank never creates an entry, moves money, or changes your data without your approval. The original document is kept and linked to whatever you create, so you always have the source on file.
Tips
- Forward statements as they arrive rather than in a yearly batch — Frank can keep your balances current with less effort.
- If Frank misreads a figure, edit it before approving; the corrected entry is what gets saved.
- Documents you approve as a super statement or policy schedule are stored alongside your other files and can be searched later. See Asking Frank About Your Documents.
