Track money between entities
The Flows tab in Settings > Entity Flows lets you record and track how money moves between your entities. This is essential if you manage trusts, companies, or SMSFs alongside your personal finances.
Flow types
You can record several types of inter-entity flows:
- Distribution — trust distributing income to beneficiaries
- Dividend — company paying dividends to shareholders (with franking)
- Loan — inter-entity loans and repayments
- Transfer — general transfers between entities
- Salary — salary payments from a company or trust
- Contribution — super contributions to an SMSF
Franking credits
For dividend flows, you can record the franking percentage. Finance Frank calculates the franking credit and grossed-up amount automatically.
How to use it
- Navigate to Settings > Entity Flows
- Click Add Flow and select the flow type
- Choose the source entity and destination entity
- Enter the amount, date, and any relevant details (e.g. franking percentage)
- Review the summary to see net flows per entity
Tips
- Use the financial year filter to see flows for a specific period
- The summary view shows net inflows and outflows per entity at a glance
- Record trust distributions before 30 June to align with your tax reporting
- Pair this with the Tax Position Dashboard to see how distributions affect taxable income
