Filtering the Dashboard by Entity
Last updated 2026-04-26
What it does
If you've added more than one entity (e.g. you, your partner, your SMSF, your family trust), the dashboard shows a row of pills at the top. Click any pill to filter every tile on the dashboard to that entity. Click multiple pills to see the combined picture across them. Click again to deselect.
What gets filtered
When you select one or more entities, the dashboard refreshes:
- Net Worth — only assets and liabilities owned by the selected entities (with ownership-weighted splits)
- Net Worth Trajectory — historical snapshots aggregated across the selected entities
- Recent Activity — alerts and anomalies scoped to the selected entities
- Opportunities — refinance and tax suggestions scoped to the selected entities
- Monthly income / surplus / cashflow — re-weighted by ownership
The Health Score and SMSF Compliance pill don't filter — they're calculated against your full portfolio.
Ownership weighting
If an asset has an ownership split (e.g. 60% you / 40% your partner), and you select your entity only, you'll see 60% of the asset value, not 100%. This applies the same way for liabilities, income, and expenses with ownership splits.
If an asset doesn't have an explicit ownership split, it's attributed to its entity_id field — usually the entity you set up the asset under.
When the filter doesn't apply
A few tiles are intentionally global:
- Health Score — measures your overall financial health across all entities
- SMSF Compliance pill — only relevant when you have an SMSF entity, scoped to that fund
Tips
- Toggle a single entity to see "what's mine" vs "what's our SMSF's"
- Toggle multiple to see joint household totals (you + partner)
- Clear all to see your full portfolio with ownership-weighted aggregation
Entity filter only changes what the dashboard shows. It doesn't change anything in your data.
